Coming This Autumn: Celebrating the Strength & Beauty of Everyday Women
We are thrilled to announce a major addition to our gallery calendar for the upcoming season.
From October 31st to December 19th, our walls will host “Everyday Icons”—a powerful new solo exhibition by acclaimed Danish contemporary artist Peter Baagøe Jepsen.
Reclaiming the Canvas: What “Everyday Icons” is About
In a world saturated with fleeting digital images and often devaluing depictions of the female form, Jepsen’s new collection is a breath of fresh air.
This exhibition features an extraordinary blend of figurative oil paintings and three-dimensional canvas wall sculptures. The entire collection serves as a profound homage to the everyday heroes in our lives:
• The Mothers who anchor us
• The Partners who walk beside us
• The Fellow Humans who inspire us daily
Every piece is crafted with classic technical precision, stripping away modern distortions to focus entirely on deep respect, quiet dignity, and the timeless interplay of light and shadow.
The Artist Behind the Sculpted Canvas
Peter Baagøe Jepsen’s journey to this exhibition is as fascinating as the artwork itself. Did you know he actually started his career as a trained boatbuilder in Denmark? This unique background gives him an incredible, tactile mastery over structure, wood, and form that translates directly into his innovative canvas sculptures.
His artistic evolution spans continents, combining:
• Mentorship under master painter Børge Ibsen
• Advanced watercolor training in Canada
• Two prestigious academic art degrees in the USA
• A previous landmark solo show at the renowned Springville Museum of Art in Utah
Mark Your Calendar
Now, Jepsen is bringing his international perspective back home to Varde for this limited seven-week engagement. “Everyday Icons” is a gentle yet powerful reminder that standard human forms—unvarnished and real—hold a universal, everlasting beauty.
Make sure to plan your visit between
October 31 and December 19
